“Come home to peachy pets!”

Q:

What exactly is pet sitting?

A:

Pet sitting is an alternative to kennel boarding which allows your pet to remain in your home while you are away.  A pet sitter visits your home to care for your pet and check on your residence.  Your pet remains where it is comfortable and familiar and its general feeding and exercise routines are maintained. Some pet sitters also offer house sitting and will stay in your house during your absence.

Q:

Does Peachy Pets offer overnight house sitting services?

A:

No.  Peachy Pets does not offer an overnight stay service in your home; nor do we offer boarding.

Q:

Should a pet sitter be licensed or certified?

A:

There is no regulatory body which oversees a pet sitter’s experience, credentials or qualifications.  There are no required exams or certifications in order to undertake pet sitting.  Pet sitters that state they are ‘licensed’ are really referring to an occupational license, also referred to as an occupational or business tax, that may be required to operate a business in their municipality.  This license makes no provision for evaluating a person’s experience or abilities.  Pet sitting industry organizations, such as Pet Sitters International or the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters do offer their own accreditation programs; however, there is no regulatory requirement for a pet sitter to obtain any certification.
